They are launching events to mark the 75th anniversary with a virtual gathering of experts and practitioners to share insights about journalism\u2019s role the global COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will identify the role played by journalism, how the crisis itself has shaped journalism and how best to absorb the lessons learned. The online forum will also feature an international town hall for journalism students and a discussion of how journalism education can foster essential skills for crisis reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers for the event include journalist Ed Yong of The Atlantic; Dr. Theresa Tam, chief public health officer of Canada, Adrienne Arsenault, anchor of CBC\u2019s The National and Globe and Mail health columnist Andre Picard. And yet, people around the world have turned to journalists to help them make sense of the most significant social and economic crisis of our generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium will explore the fascinating intersection of journalism and the COVID-19 crisis to assess both short and long-term impacts.
