She will provide advice to department and campus partners in developing education and opportunities for professional services staff. Students will also benefit from Craven\u2019s work as she co-creates learning and engagement opportunities in areas of human rights and equity, diversity and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Craven has collaboratively designed and co-taught courses with faculty members across a variety of disciplines from the humanities to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to enhance inclusion and equity in the classroom. Her other teaching experience include a variety of courses that critically examine oppressive systems and the ways in which individuals, groups and communities navigate and resist these systems while working toward a more equitable, just and free society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Craven is currently an associate professor of Community and Justice Studies and Chair of the Justice and Policy Studies Department at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. &nbsp;Her research over the past several years looks at how colonial systems and their legacies function and how individuals and communities understand, resist and attempt to transform them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has engaged in multiple community-based, participatory research projects regarding youth-led community organizing, immigrant justice, refugee resettlement, and housing and homelessness. She recently completed a multi-year study with two of her colleagues that examined the influence of implicit bias training on members of a police department in the midwestern United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Craven earned a PhD in Community Research and Action from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
