The book is a stunning visual exploration of Canada\u2019s most recognized building accompanied by a comprehensive study of its history. Contributors include four members of the school, <a href=\"https:\/\/architecture.carleton.ca\/archives\/people\/lyette-fortin\">Lyette Fortin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/architecture.carleton.ca\/archives\/people\/jill-stoner\">Jill Stoner<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/architecture.carleton.ca\/archives\/people\/stephen-fai\">Stephen Fai<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/architecture.carleton.ca\/archives\/people\/mariana-esponda\">Mariana Esponda<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.<br>\n<strong>Registration<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJIkduyvrjgiGNM2nSRK_lYDvW78NQipE8lM\">https:\/\/zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJIkduyvrjgiGNM2nSRK_lYDvW78NQipE8lM<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers at the launch include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Audrey O\u2019Brien, CM, clerk emerita of the House of Commons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rob Wright, assistant deputy minister, Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jill Stoner, director of the Azrieli School of Architecture &amp; Urbanism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The event features a roundtable discussion with the author\/photographer, editor and designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre Block\u2014the iconic parliament building that has come to be Canada\u2019s foremost representation\u2014was closed in 2018 and will remain closed for at least a decade for a complete renovation and restoration. During that time, hundreds of thousands of Canadians and visitors to Canada will miss the opportunity to tour the building and view its architecture and symbolic artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With original photographs from noted architectural photographer William P. McElligott, historical images and thematic articles written by established subject specialists, <em>A Portrait of Canada\u2019s Parliament<\/em> provides a contemporary look at one of the nation\u2019s greatest symbols.
