Joseph Bennett

Bennett is available to speak about biodiversity conservation. His research areas include conservation prioritization, threatened species, invasion ecology, environmental policy and spatial statistics. He has a particular interest in practical questions regarding invasive species control and management to protect threatened species. He regularly undertakes ecological and social research to help improve Canadian environmental policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Burn<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>Chancellor\u2019s Professor, Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burn is available to discuss permafrost. His research is focused on the relation between climate and permafrost. Burn has been particularly interested in determining the response of ground temperatures and the active layer to climate warming as observed in the western Arctic since 1970. He is the president of the International Permafrost Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leanne Keddie<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>Professor, Sprott School of Business at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keddie is available to discuss sustainability and companies, including how firms measure and report their impact on society and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keddie\u2019s research examines corporate sustainability reporting, sustainable bonuses being paid by companies to executives as part of corporate compensation plans and sustainability performance. Her current research project looks at how companies pay bonuses based on greenhouse gas emission goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefania Maggi<\/strong>

James Meadowcroft<\/strong>

Meadowcroft is available to discuss ongoing climate change and the impact those changes may have going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meadowcroft is also available to discuss energy transition. His recent work focuses on energy and the transition to a low carbon society and includes publications on carbon capture and storage (CCS), smart grids, the development of Ontario\u2019s electricity system, the politics of socio-technical transitions and negative carbon emissions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Koreen Millard
\n<\/strong>Professor, Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millard\u2019s research sits at a crossroads between geomatics, physical geography and big data science. She focuses on ecosystem monitoring using remotely sensed imagery.  By coupling remote sensing with extensive monitoring in the field, her research helps detangle hydrological, vegetation and climate interactions so that we can better predict the responses of wetlands, northern ecosystems, and other vulnerable areas to change and wildfires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Banu \u00d6rmeci<\/strong>
\nProfessor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carleton University, Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Global Health and Canada Research Professor<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00d6rmeci\u2019s research program focuses on wastewater and biosolids treatment; removal of biological and chemical contaminants; development of new, innovative, sustainable and cost-effective treatment technologies; and improvement of processes at treatment plants. Her research is directly related to the protection of public health and environment, and aims to offer solutions to not only global problems but also issues faced in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameron Roberts<\/strong>

Roberts is an expert on sustainable transportation and has written on a variety of related topics including, the importance of public transit, the need to electrify public transit, and the potential impact of carbon pricing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roberts\u2019 background is in the history of technology and studying large-scale technological change from a social science perspective. Most of his research involves using historical case studies to understand past examples of rapid and wide-reaching change in technical systems, and apply that to the present-day challenge of rapidly de-carbonising our societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
