Karim<\/strong><br>\nProfessor, School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto::Karim.Karim@carleton.ca\"><strong>Email<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karim is available to discuss the relationship between the Quebec government&#8217;s secularism policies and violence against Muslims and the growth of white supremacist violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karim was the Carleton Centre for the Study of Islam\u2019s director from 2013 to 2021 and previously served as director of the Institute of Ismaili Studies (U.K.) and Carleton\u2019s School of Journalism and Communication, where he teaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His areas of expertise include the depiction of Muslims, inter-cultural communication and diaspora. Canada\u2019s government has honoured him for his work in fostering inter-religious co-operation and Carleton has designated him Chancellor\u2019s Professor, the university\u2019s highest scholarly position. His main research interests include violent extremism, insurgencies and foreign fighters.
