Chris Burn<\/strong>
\nChancellor\u2019s Professor, Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burn is available to discuss permafrost. His research is focused on the relation between climate and permafrost. Burn has been particularly interested in determining the response of ground temperatures and the active layer to climate warming as observed in the western Arctic since 1970. He is the president of the International Permafrost Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew Johnson<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor and Head of the Energy & Emissions Research Lab, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson is available to discuss COP28 and methane emissions and oil and gas sector emissions generally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson is the Scientific Director of the Energy & Emissions Research Laboratory (EERL) who specializes in experimental research relating to pollutant emissions in the upstream energy industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An author of numerous journal articles and frequent invited lecturer nationally and internationally, Johnson\u2019s research contributions include aircraft and ground-based methane measurements in the oil and gas sector, development of the \u201csky-LOSA\u201d optical technology for measuring black carbon in plumes, parametric models for predicting efficiency of flares in crossflow, novel approaches for detecting and quantifying fugitive emissions sources, techno-economic analysis of GHG mitigation potential, and scientific rationale for standards development and regulatory decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Energy & Emissions Research Lab. collaborates closely with government and industry, drawing support from a variety of national and international organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leanne Keddie<\/strong>
\nProfessor, Sprott School of Business at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keddie is available to discuss sustainability and the role of business, including how firms measure and report their impact on society and the environment, the use of financial incentives, and the role of the circular economy, an economic system based on the reuse and regeneration of materials and products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keddie\u2019s research examines corporate sustainability reporting, sustainable bonuses being paid by companies to executives as part of corporate compensation plans, and sustainability performance. Her current research project looks at how companies pay bonuses based on greenhouse gas emission goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexandra Mallett<\/strong>
\nProfessor, School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mallett will be available for interviews as of Dec. 4, 2023. She will be available to discuss sustainability and climate change issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mallett\u2019s experience spans academia and the public sectors, working on the design, implementation and evaluation of energy, climate change and environmental policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research interests include examining the innovation, co-operation, and adoption processes involved in sustainable energy technologies, especially in emerging economies, Canada and the United States. Her research also focuses on changes in the governance of natural resources, with a particular focus on mining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Russill<\/strong>
\nProfessor, School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russill is an academic director at Re.Climate, a centre for climate communication and public engagement which is housed at Carleton. His current work focuses on problems of disinformation and denial in their relevance to climate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russill co-edited Critical Approaches to Climate Change and Civic Action <\/em>with Anabela Carvalho and Julie Doyle, a collection exploring conceptual invention in public forms of climate action. He has also edited Earth Observing Media<\/em>, a collection engaging with the politics of Google Earth, digital globes, drones, radar, sonar, GPS, migration, missile photography, and satellite imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is an associate editor at Science and Environmental Communication<\/em> and serves on the boards of Environmental Communication, Palgrave Studies in Media and Environmental Communication, and Communication Undisciplined. He teaches classes in climate change and communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
