The first year of university is a significant time of transition as students navigate a broad range of new academic choices, expectations and social groups, and many students move away from home. These changes may present new challenges for previously well-functioning, high-achieving students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Howard\u2019s research primarily examines mental health, including depression and anxiety, and the use of alcohol, cannabis, tobacco and other drugs during adolescence and into adulthood. We\u2019ve just been doing it wrong<\/em>. The article discusses alternative approaches to training graduate students in the arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malloy\u2019s key areas of research include Canadian political institutions, parliamentary committees and prime ministerial leadership. More specifically, she is primarily interested in investigating effective teaching and learning from a cognitive perspective. For example, she has examined the differential effects that typing and handwriting have on memory and learning. She has also investigated methods that best support teaching, learning, and memory more broadly.
