Newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney will be meeting with President Trump today to begin discussions on a range of issues, including tariffs, and Carleton experts are available to discuss what can be expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ian Lee
\n<\/strong>Professor, Sprott School of Business at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee is happy to discuss business in Canada, including economic growth, deficits, and the competitiveness of Canadian industries. Lee has appeared multiple times before the House of Commons and Senate finance, banking, industry and trade committees. He has been in every Government of Canada budget lockup since 2008. He attended pre-budget consultations with the Minister of Finance in 2009 and 2011. His work has appeared in the annual publication, How Ottawa Spends, concerning Canada\u2019s retirement system, the Parliamentary Budget Officer, deficits, corporate income reform, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephen Saideman<\/strong>

Saideman is available to discuss Trump\u2019s impact on foreign affairs and defence policy, including NATO. His research interests focus on the causes and consequences of intervention in intra-state conflicts. His current research deals with the role of legislatures in democratic civil-military relations. He teaches courses on contemporary international security, civil-military relations, and United States foreign and defence policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brian Schmidt
\n<\/strong>Professor, Department of Political Science at Carleton University<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schmidt is an American citizen whose research interests are international relations theory, American foreign policy, American domestic politics, U.S.-Canada relations and disciplinary history. His book The Political Discourse of Anarchy, which received the Choice 1998 Outstanding Academic Book Award, examines the history of International Relations from the mid-1800s to the outbreak of World War Two. He continues to pursue research on the history of the field and has published numerous articles on the historiography of International Relations. At Carleton, Schmidt teaches courses on international relations theory, the causes of war, the United Nations, and American foreign policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christopher Worswick<\/strong>
