Here is a list of the currently active research projects. We accept new students to work on any of these projects and would be glad to start new projects with motivated students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"agent-based-approach-for-autonomous-vehicles\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Agent-based Approach for Autonomous vehicles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We use the Belief-Desire-Intention paradigm to program autonomous vehicles, simulated (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/NMAI-lab\/SAVI\">SAVI project<\/a> GitHub page) or real-life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"software-agent-imitation\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/nmai\/research-projects\/software-agent-imitation\/\">Software Agent Imitation<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sce.carleton.ca\/netmanage\/robocup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robocup<\/a> is used as a platform for experimenting with building agents who imitate other agents, using case-based reasoning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are also working with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciena.com\/?utm_campaign=X1080019&amp;utm_source=Google&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_medium=Text&amp;lang=EN&amp;si=Brand&amp;s_kwcid=AL!12312!3!412844193352!p!!g!!ciena&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_sOF3MW-igMV0h2tBh0QtwxsEAAYASAAEgL42fD_BwE\">Ciena<\/a> to use log data to learn the behaviour of human operators who configure IP routers and optical devices, and help create agents that can automate their routine tasks&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"peer-2-peer-networking\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/nmai\/research-projects\/universal-peer-to-peer\/\">Peer 2 Peer Networking<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Universal Peer-to-Peer (U-P2P) is a framework for sharing data over existing peer-to-peer networks, that provides a rich layering of meta-data and user-extensibility on top of the traditionally closed peer systems. Also see the <a href=\"http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/u-p2p\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sourceforge project page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"older-projects\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Older Projects:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>P2P-SIP\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use of P2P techniques for Secure and scalable SIP communication in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. See our <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/NMAI-lab\/MANETSIP\">GitHub page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/hosd.sourceforge.net\/\">Hybrid Operating System Discovery<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>HOSD aims to unify the two classical approaches to operating system discovery, namely passive and active, into a single hybrid framework.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/vnec.sourceforge.net\/\">Virtual Network Experiment Controller<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>VNEC is an environment to specify, configure, and control a virtual network in order to run experiments that are too costly or too risky to be executed on a real physical network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/nmai\/research-projects\/web-service-discovery\/\">Web Service Discovery<\/a>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sce.carleton.ca\/netmanage\/projects\/Distributed_Registry_Management.htm\" rel=\"nofollow\">Web Service Discovery<\/a>\u00a0project aims to facilitate Web Service discovery in distributed Web Service registries. Service discovery is accomplished through DHT (Distributed Hash Table) mechanisms that create a federation of service registries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/nmai\/research-projects\/magenta-2\/\">Magenta<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Magenta is a simple framework for developing agent systems, inspired by network management standards such as CMIP and GDMO. It is a re-implementation in Java of the original Magenta agent framework, developed in Smalltalk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Service Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are interested in different aspects of service management like dynamic composition of service components and the detection of service interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/nmai\/research-projects\/swap-box\/\">SwapBox<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swapbox.sourceforge.net\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">SwapBox<\/a>&nbsp;is an extension to Sun&#8217;s BeanBox that allows the hot-swapping of JavaBeans during runtime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our research interests are in the general domains of artificial intelligence and networking.
