This year, the OCSNRS will feature a photo contest where students may submit their original northern photos and win prizes. Please review the photo submission guidelines below for further details. The submission deadline for the photo competition is Friday, February 12th<\/sup>, 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photo Contest Submission Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submission deadline: Friday, February 12th<\/sup>, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submit photos to: cglas007@uottawa.ca<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible submissions must be in accordance with the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Entrants must be current students or recent graduates (since January 2015) of the University of Ottawa or Carleton University;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Entrants must be the sole proprietor of their image;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Only northern photos will be valid for entry (see NSTP map for Northern Boundary: http:\/\/www.polarcom.gc.ca\/node\/181<\/a>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Photos must be entered into one category of best fit (please include chosen category in email):\n
      \n
    1. Northern Communities, Cultures, and Research;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Northern Landscapes; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Northern Fauna and Flora.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. A maximum of two photos per category may be entered into the contest (maximum of six photos per photographer);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Photos should be your highest resolution in JPG or TIFF format;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. File names should follow the format firstname_lastname#.jpg;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Each photo should have its own distinct caption including location and date taken included in the body of the email submission;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    8. Any entry that depicts a recognizable person must be accompanied by a OCSNRS Model Release Form<\/a>; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    9. Entire entry must be less than 10MB.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Judging<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Contest entries will be judged on originality, composition, technical execution and overall impact. The judging panel will be composed of OCSNRS 2016 committee members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Prizes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Prized will be awarded in each category for a first place winner and a runner up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The photographer retains copyright of all photographs submitted to this contest. Upon entering the contest, the photographer grants OCSNRS the right to display all photos during the 2016 Symposium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Les soumissions \u00e9ligibles doivent suivre les directives ci-dessous :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Le participant doit \u00e9tudier actuellement ou doit \u00eatre un \u00e9tudiant r\u00e9cemment dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 (depuis janvier 2015),<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Le participant doit \u00eatre propri\u00e9taire de l\u2019image,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Seul les photos reli\u00e9es au Nord peuvent \u00eatre soumises (voir la carte des r\u00e9gions nordiques de la Commission canadienne des affaires polaires\u00a0: http:\/\/www.polarcom.gc.ca\/node\/181<\/a>),<\/u><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Les photos doivent \u00eatre reli\u00e9es \u00e0 une cat\u00e9gorie (inclure votre cat\u00e9gorie de choix dans votre courriel)\u00a0:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        1. Communaut\u00e9s nordiques, culture ou recherche,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Paysages nordiques, ou<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Flore ou faune nordique,<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          1. Un maximum de deux photos par cat\u00e9gorie est acceptable (maximum de 6 photos par participant),<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Les photos doivent \u00eatre de haute r\u00e9solution en format JPG ou TIFF,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          3. Les noms des fichiers sont \u00e9crit comme ceci\u00a0: surnom_nomdefamille#.jpg,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          4. Chaque photo doit comporter une l\u00e9gende descriptive qui inclut l\u2019endroit et la date qu\u2019elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise (ceci est \u00e9crit dans votre courriel),<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          5. Une photo qui d\u00e9montre une personne doit \u00eatre accompagn\u00e9e d\u2019un OCSNRS Formulaire de Lib\u00e9ration<\/a>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          6. La soumission au complet doit \u00eatre de moins de 10MB.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            \u00c9valuation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Les soumissions seront jug\u00e9es sur l\u2019originalit\u00e9, la composition, l\u2019ex\u00e9cution technique et l’impact global. Le jury sera compos\u00e9 des membres du comit\u00e9 SOCREN 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Prix<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Les prix seront d\u00e9cern\u00e9s dans chaque cat\u00e9gorie pour un gagnant de premi\u00e8re place et un gagnant de deuxi\u00e8me place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Le photographe conserve le droit d’auteur de toutes les photographies pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es \u00e0 ce concours.
