OCSNRS<\/strong> 2014 – Schedule and Abstracts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2013 Ottawa-Carleton Northern Research Symposium (OCSNRS) is taking place at the University of Ottawa, in the Demarais Building (Room 12102), from 8:30am – 4:30pm on Thursday, February 6th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program for the 2014 Ottawa Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium (OCSNRS) has now been finalized. I am pleased to announce that we have a full day of presentations on a wide range of topics and I would like to thank all of this years presenters in advance for their participation. Please find attached the program for the event, which includes the schedule, a map to the conference location and a list of all the abstracts to be presented.
\nThe 2014 OCSNRS will be hosted at the University of Ottawa on<\/span> Thursday February 6th , 2014 8:30 – 4:30 in the Demarais Building, Room 12102.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that an RSVP is required<\/strong> to confirm your attendance, these can be sent to Wesley Van Wychen (wvanw046@uottawa.ca<\/a>). We ask that you RSVP by January 31st, 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, our keynote speaker is Dr. Martin Sharp<\/strong>, Professor and Chair at the Earth and Atmospheric Science Department at the University of Alberta. His keynote address is entitled “The Global Dynamics of Arctic Ice Caps”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, those attending the OCSNRS may also be interested in attending a presentation by Hugh Dale-Harris<\/strong> about his expedition across Ellesmere Island last spring. Hugh will be talking about the wildlife, geography, adventures and travel he experienced, and how this compared with Sverdrup\u2019s expedition from 1898-1902. This talk will be held on the evening of Tuesday February 4th, 2014 at 7:00PM in Demarais 12102 and a poster of this talk is also attached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important Guidelines for Presenters:<\/strong>
\nOral Presentations: We ask that those giving oral presentations prepare talks of 12-13 minutes allowing for 2-3 minutes of questions following the talk. We also ask that those giving oral presentations ensure that they upload their presentations during the break preceding their scheduled talk. This will be done in coordination with the session chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poster Presentations:<\/strong> We ask that those giving poster presentations put up their poster during the registration portion of the morning schedule (8:30-8:55). This will ensure that all posters are available for the entire day and getting maximum exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son allocution s\u2019intitule : \u00ab The Global Dynamics of Arctic Ice Caps \u00bb.
\nDe plus, il se peut que nos participants s\u2019int\u00e9ressent \u00e0 une pr\u00e9sentation de Hugh Dale-Harris<\/strong> au sujet de son traverse de l\u2019\u00cele d\u2019Ellesm\u00e8re ce printemps pass\u00e9. Hugh va parler de la faune et flore, de la g\u00e9ographie et de ses aventures pendant cette exp\u00e9dition et comment ses exp\u00e9riences se sont compar\u00e9es avec celles de Sverdrup en 1898-1902. Directives importantes pour les pr\u00e9sentations
\nPr\u00e9sentations orales<\/strong> : Nous demandons que les pr\u00e9sentations orales se limitent \u00e0 12-13 minutes, ce qui permet un autre 2-3 minutes pour les questions et la discussion suivant le discours. Nous demandons aussi qu\u2019on met les pr\u00e9sentations sur l\u2019ordinateur pendant la pause programm\u00e9e qui pr\u00e9c\u00e8de la pr\u00e9sentation. Ceci va se faire en coordination avec la chaire du session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pr\u00e9sentations affiches<\/strong> : Nous demandons que ceux et celles qui ont une affiche \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter postent leur pr\u00e9sentation pendant la p\u00e9riode de r\u00e9gistration au matin (08h30 \u00e0 8h55). Cela va assurer que toutes les affiches se voient le plus possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
