\n NSTP applications and reports\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

We have recently received the 2025-2026 call for NSTP (Northern Scientific Training Program) applications, reports and the associated NSTP Information Manual<\/a>. The Carleton northern research website (http:\/\/carleton.ca\/northernresearch\/nstp<\/a>\/) has been updated with all relevant materials and deadlines for this upcoming round of applications and reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NSTP provides research grants to students in the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences to help offset the costs of conducting research in the North. Only Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply and your northern fieldwork must be included in your undergraduate or graduate thesis in a degree program at a recognized Canadian University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you were allocated NSTP funding in the 2024-2025 fiscal year and you completed your fieldwork (or still plan to complete your fieldwork by March 31) you are required to submit a report on your research progress, by November 1, 202<\/b><\/u>4<\/b><\/u> [the Carleton internal deadline].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you wish to apply for new<\/b><\/i> NSTP funding for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, new applications and draft field safety forms<\/i> are due by November 1, 202<\/b><\/u>4<\/b><\/u> <\/u>[Carleton internal deadline].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All applications and reports must be submitted using the NSTP online system (https:\/\/nstp-pfsn.smapply.io\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newly updated sections of the cuNorth website provide all the relevant instructions and forms to help you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Report on NSTP funds (http:\/\/carleton.ca\/northernresearch\/nstp\/reports\/<\/a>)
\n– Apply for NSTP funds (http:\/\/carleton.ca\/northernresearch\/nstp\/apps\/<\/a>)
\n– Complete a draft field safety form to be appended to your NSTP application (http:\/\/carleton.ca\/northernresearch\/safety\/field-safety-form\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For details on eligible expenses and how to claim research expenses for current or future NSTP allocations, please visit https:\/\/carleton.ca\/northernresearch\/nstp\/travel\/<\/a>.  In particular, please note the maximum timelines for student eligibility to receive NSTP funding (1 year for Undergraduate students, 2 years for Master\u2019s students, and 3 years for Doctoral students).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other details will be added to the https:\/\/carleton.ca\/northernresearch<\/a> website as they become available and will be disseminated via cuNorth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
