Dear Colleagues at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m writing on behalf of the organizing committee for the Ottawa Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium, which is being held at Carleton University this year. We\u2019re issuing our call for abstracts, with the relevant details included below in text format, with posters following. We\u2019re looking forward with excitement for the chance to share interdisciplinary presentations of Student Northern work, and in the interest of broadening our pool of attendees as much as possible, I\u2019d like to ask you to share this with your departments, colleagues, working groups, and\/or students.<\/div>\n

The OCSNRS is an annual, one-day event that allows students from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa to present their northern research projects. All research fields are welcome, including social, physical and life sciences and the humanities. Paper and poster presentations are open to current undergraduate, master\u2019s and doctoral students,  as well as recent graduates (since January 2014). This year, the Symposium will be held on Friday, March 6th at Carleton University<\/b>. It is an excellent way to practice presenting and gain valuable feedback from your peers!<\/div>\n

The call for abstracts is now open for the Ottawa-Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium (OCSNRS) 2015. Our call for abstracts poster can be found attached to this email as a PDF, along with an invitation to the conference photo contest. If the PDF is inaccessible to you, please review the abstract submission guidelines below.<\/div>\n

\nAbstract submission deadline:<\/span>
\nFriday February 6th, 2015<\/b>

<\/p>\n

Abstracts are welcomed in either French or English. Presentations may range from project proposals to publication-ready results.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n
Northern research eligibility is defined as research taking place north of the Northern Scientific Training Program boundary (http:\/\/www.polarcom.gc.ca\/node\/181<\/a>).

<\/p>\n

\nSubmitted abstracts must include:<\/span>
\n(1) The names of all authors with the presenting author and institutional affiliation indicated
\n(2) The student\u2019s department, program type (BA, BSc, MA, MSc, PhD, etc), and supervisor\u2019s name
\n(3) The presentation title
\n(4) Preference for an oral or a poster presentation
\n(5) An abstract of 250 words maximum, which should include a brief introduction to your topic, research objectives, approach\/methods and key findings.

Submit your abstract as a word document to Marcus Phillips (marcus.phillips@carleton.ca<\/a>). Confirmation of receipt will be sent within 48 hours.<\/p>\n
