Panel 1: 8:30 \u2013 12:00 “The Unravelling of the Arctic”<\/span><\/b><\/a>, Hosted by The Canadian Climate Forum, Arctic 21, and WWF<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel 2:  12:30 \u2013 14:00 “Challenges of Conducting Research in the Arctic”<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel and lunch hosted by Fulbright Canada<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special guest Ambassador Bruce Heyman<\/a> will give opening remarks on the importance of Canada-US partnership in Arctic research. This panel will consider the physical, fiscal, and intellectual challenges of conducting research in the Arctic. It will present an overview of the Fulbright Arctic Initiative, a new program designed to promote innovative, interdisciplinary research, and create a network of researchers across the Arctic Council region.  <\/span>Dr. Michael K. Hawes<\/span><\/a>, CEO Fulbright Canada, will give welcoming remarks, <\/span>Dr. Michael Sfraga<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Dr. Ross A. Virginia<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> co-lead scholars of the Fulbright Arctic Initiative will discuss these topics based on their personal research challenges, and  <\/span>Tracy Coates<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>JD, will discuss the importance of traditional and local knowledge in Arctic research.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strategic and creative consultant and educator in the area of critical theory, law and Indigenous knowledge.  Tracy is of Mohawk ancestry from the Turtle clan.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosted by Fulbright Canada with the support of the Fulbright Canada-RBC Eco-Leadership Program<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the Same Stars (Ulluriat ataanittuinnait) is an exhibit of original photography by Fulbright Canada grantee, <\/span>Acacia Johnson<\/span><\/a>, who will be present for the duration of the exhibition. The central theme of the show demonstrates that shared experiences in the Arctic, across all cultures and communities, tie us together. Acacia\u2019s work depicts the reality of everyday life during the long winter months on Baffin Island.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
