Cases and exercises are used to illustrate their application in the analysis and formulation of Canada\u2019s international security, trade and development policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><br>\nLearning Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants will be able to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 identify a policy problem for inclusion on the governmental policy agenda<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 identify the objectives that any potential solution would need to achieve in addressing the problem<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 identify the various alternative solutions that are available to address the problem<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 construct a consequences matrix for the various alternatives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 use matrix analysis to assess the alternative solutions, identifying the advantages and disadvantages associated with each and executing tradeoffs among them<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 identify performance criteria to assess implementation<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Audience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The course is designed for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 middle and senior officials involved directly in international policy formulation,&nbsp; implementation and evaluation;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 representatives of the private and nonprofit sectors who are involved directly in the policy dimensions of Canada\u2019s engagement in the world;
