Degrees:B.A. International Relations, University of British Columbia

Yassen Atallah is a second year MA candidate at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA), specializing in International Organizations and Global Public Policy (IOGP). A student with a thirst for knowledge not only in the social sciences but also in the natural sciences, Yassen seeks to bridge disciplinary gaps of knowledge with his interdisciplinary approach to help improve the lives of the poorest, the most vulnerable and the most marginalized of the world. This has led him to develop a strong background in international affairs, public policy, as well as in the environmental and health sciences. He is currently employed as a policy analyst with Health Canada’s Strategic Policy Branch, Health Care Innovation Secretariat, working on Canada’s digital COVID-19 strategy.

Yassen is currently conducting a major research project on attacks on healthcare in conflict contexts, under the supervision of Professor Valerie Percival.
