The program requirements for the M.A. program are completion of 5.0 credits. Students will complete the 5.0 credit program by Course Work Option, Research Essay Option or Thesis Option.

NOTE:  Students completing 3 field courses from their designated field will graduate with an MA in International Affairs, including a field designation.  Students who do not complete 3 field courses from their designated field will graduate with a general MA in International Affairs.


Program completion via Course Work Option

  • INAF 5011  (0.25 credits), INAF 5012  (0.25 credits), INAF 5013  (0.25 credits) and INAF 5014 (0.25 credits) – (1 credit in total)
  • Completion of designated field economics course (0.5 credits)
  • Completion of 7  field and / or elective courses in international affairs or related disciplines (3.5 credits)

Plus

  • Successful completion of the language requirement (may require completion of up to 3 language classes)

Program completion via Research Essay Option

  • INAF 5011  (0.25 credits), INAF 5012  (0.25 credits), INAF 5013  (0.25 credits) and INAF 5014 (0.25 credits) – (1 credit in total)
  • Completion of designated field economics course (0.5 credits)
  • Completion of 4.5 approved field and / or elective courses in international affairs or related disciplines (2.5 credits)
  • Research Essay (1.0 credit)

Plus

  • Successful completion of the language requirement (may require completion of up to 3 language classes)
  • Oral comprehensive examination (INAF 5908)

Program completion via Thesis Option

  • INAF 5011  (0.25 credits), INAF 5012  (0.25 credits), INAF 5013  (0.25 credits) and INAF 5014 (0.25 credits) – (1 credit in total)
  • Completion of designated field economics course (0.5 credits)
  • Completion of 3 approved field and / or elective courses in international affairs or related disciplines  (1.5 credit)
  • Thesis (2.0 credits)

  • Oral comprehensive examination (INAF 5909)
