SUMMARY:A Middle Power Adrift? Canada and the Future of Peacekeeping
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the first in a series of The Barton Dialogues.



This discussion will bring together three experts to discuss the evolution of peacekeeping, the challenges facing contemporary peace operations, and the future of peacekeeping in a complex, fragmented and increasingly multipolar world.



The Barton Dialogues engages researchers and policy makers on threats to global peace and security, their impact on Canada, and how Canada should respond to them. Its objective is to bring together experts with diverse backgrounds and differing views to better inform our understanding of these challenges and their policy implications.



This series is inspired by Ambassador William Barton, whose long diplomatic career included serving as Canada's Ambassador to the United Nations, the President of the UN Security Council, and Canada’s representative to the Conference of the Committee on Disarmament. The series honours Ambassador Barton’s commitment to the importance of dialogue across differing, even opposing, viewpoints to improve our policy responses and advance the cause of peace.



The Barton Dialogues will feature a mix of virtual and in-person webinars, interviews and discussions moderated by faculty from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA).
