While Canadian-Ukrainian organizations strongly support Ukraine’s wartime priorities, empirical evidence indicates a trajectory toward permanent settlement. Driven by security, economic, and legal factors, return intentions transcend simple patriotism or integration. The study identifies dual paradoxes. Canadian host-state policy increasingly recognizes Ukrainians as a settled population while continuing to govern Ukrainians fleeing the war through temporariness. Ukraine continues to mobilize its expanded diaspora while lacking a fully articulated strategy for a future in which large segments of its citizens may remain abroad but stay politically, economically, and affectively connected to Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will circulate the chapter to those that register for the event one week beforehand (by Thursday, October 8th).<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"author":228,"featured_media":2959,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"cu_event_type":[],"cu_event_audience":[],"class_list":["post-2956","cu_event","type-cu_event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":{"cu_event_start_date":"2026-10-15 10:20:00","cu_event_end_date":"2026-10-15 11:30:00","cu_event_add_to_calendar":"show","cu_event_location_type":"in-person","cu_event_meeting_address_type":"on-campus","cu_event_virtual_type":"tbd","cu_event_virtual_meeting_link":"","cu_building":"RB","cu_event_meeting_room":"3224","cu_event_meeting_address_full":null,"cu_post_thumbnail":"","cu_event_cost":"","cu_event_registration":"","cu_event_secondary_button":"","cu_event_contact_name":"","cu_event_email":"","cu_event_phone":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event\/2956","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/cu_event"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/228"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event\/2956\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2960,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event\/2956\/revisions\/2960"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2959"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2956"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"cu_event_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event_type?post=2956"},{"taxonomy":"cu_event_audience","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/npsia\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event_audience?post=2956"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
