Her research is interdisciplinary in scope, focusing on the impact of violent conflict on civilians, the backlash against gender equality, resilient health systems, and health in fragile and conflict affected contexts. She served as a Commissioner and led the research team for <em>The Lancet<\/em> Commission on \u201cPeaceful Societies through Health Equity and Gender Equality,\u201d authoring the final report published in <em>The<\/em> <em>Lancet<\/em>. In partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada, she was the Principal Investigator for \u201cGenLab\u201d \u2013 a Community of Practice in Mozambique that examined how gender norms influence access to and delivery of healthcare services. Working across the research-policy divide, she also served as a senior fellow with the Wilson Center in Washington DC, worked with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, directed the Kosovo office of the International Crisis Group, and was a field officer for UNHCR in Guinea, West Africa. As well as <em>The Lancet,<\/em> she has published in <em>The BMJ, Globalization and Health<\/em>, <em>Conflict and Health<\/em>, <em>International Studies Review,<\/em> and the <em>Journal of Peace Research<\/em>, and authored popular pieces in <em>OpenCanada<\/em>, the <em>Globe and Mail,<\/em> and <em>The Guardian<\/em>. \u00a0Her research has been funded by SSHRC, IDRC, and the New Frontiers in Research Fund.
