Welcome to the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA)<\/em> at Carleton University. I am deeply honoured to serve as NPSIA\u2019s Director, a position I have occupied since 2017, after serving as Associate Director (MA Program) for several years. Since joining the School in 2003, I have had the privilege of working with a team of dedicated faculty and administrative staff to offer a world class education and graduate experience to our students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1965, NPSIA is Canada\u2019s oldest school of international affairs. It is also a fully accredited and founding member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs<\/a> (APSIA)<\/em>, an association of the leading graduate programs in international affairs around the world. NPSIA offers the most comprehensive advanced degree programs in international affairs at the Master\u2019s (including a joint MA-JD) and Doctoral levels. Our Master\u2019s program continues to be ranked as the top program<\/a> for those seeking a career in policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our faculty are engaged in cutting-edge academic and policy-relevant research and I invite you to browse through the NPSIA faculty pages<\/a> to learn more about their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have been training the best and brightest graduate students in international affairs for more than 50 years and our graduates<\/a> have gone on to key leadership positions in the Canadian federal and provincial governments, foreign governments, international organizations and the private and not-for-profit sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We strongly believe in interdisciplinarity \u2013 both through our teaching and research \u2013 as a means to understand complex issues such as those related to diplomacy and foreign policy, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, security and defence policy, intelligence and international affairs, international trade and finance, and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in Canada\u2019s national capital, Ottawa, NPSIA is an excellent environment for the study of international affairs. We hope that you find the information on this site useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
