The distinction recognizes Dr. Hampson\u2019s outstanding contributions to the study and practice of international affairs, his leadership in global policy, and his decades of scholarship that have shaped the way we understand diplomacy and world order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A graduate of the University of Toronto, the London School of Economics, and Harvard University, Dr. Hampson has built an exceptional career as a leading voice in Canadian and international policy. At NPSIA, he served as Director from 2000\u20132012 and continues to mentor and inspire the next generation of policy leaders. Beyond Carleton, he has held prominent roles including President of the World Refugee &amp; Migration Council and Co-Director of the Global Commission on Internet Governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Hampson is also a prolific scholar and public intellectual. He is the author or co-author of 15 books, editor of more than 30 volumes, and has published over 100 journal articles and book chapters. His recent works \u2014 including <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.ca\/books\/721864\/the-two-michaels-by-fen-osler-hampson-and-mike-blanchfield-read-by-miles-meili\/9780385688277\">The Two Michaels: Innocent Canadian Captives and High Stakes Espionage in the U.S.\u2013China Cyber War<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mqup.ca\/braver-canada-products-9780228000921.php\">Braver Canada: Shaping Our Destiny in a Precarious World<\/a><\/em>, and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/press.georgetown.edu\/Book\/Diplomacy-and-the-Future-of-World-Order\">Diplomacy and the Future of World Order<\/a><\/em> \u2014 have earned wide recognition, with several shortlisted for major national awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isanet.org\/Programs\/Awards\/PEACE-Distinguished-Scholar#:~:text=This%20award%20was%20created%20by,of%20service%20to%20the%20ISA.\">Distinguished Peace Scholar Award<\/a><\/strong> from the International Studies Association and the <strong>ISA-Canada Distinguished Scholar Award<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Hampson on this well-deserved honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trinity.utoronto.ca\/discover\/news\/item\/trinity-college-matriculation-convocation-2025\/\">Read more from Trinity College \u2192<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The honorary degree was conferred during Trinity\u2019s 2025 Matriculation Convocation on August 25.
