\n President of Finland Visits NPSIA for Discussion on Global Security and Democratic Cooperation\n <\/h1>\n \n \n \n\n

The Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) welcomed the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, on April 15, 2026, for a packed event titled \u201cRebalancing the World Order in an Age of Fragmentation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

The visit brought together students, faculty, diplomats, and members of Ottawa\u2019s policy community for a timely conversation on global security, alliances, and the future of democratic cooperation.
The event opened with remarks from NPSIA Director Teddy Samy<\/a> and Carleton President Wisdom Tettey<\/a>, who highlighted the importance of dialogue on international affairs at a moment of global uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Stubb then joined Dr. Fen Hampson<\/a> for a moderated discussion, followed by a dynamic Q&A with between the President and Carleton students. Topics ranged from European strategic autonomy and support for Ukraine to the role of middle powers and the evolution of the transatlantic community. The President emphasized the value of engaging directly with students, who contributed thoughtful, challenging questions throughout the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
