Welcome to the Carleton University School of Nursing! Our compressed Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Honours degree is completed by students full-time over fall, winter and summer semesters. The hybrid coursework occurs on campus, in small experiential learning labs and through clinical placements. Use of innovative extended reality \u2014 augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) \u2014 medical simulation and clinical placement experiences provides strong theoretical knowledge and excellent practical application to support practice-ready Registered Nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

All Nursing students have the opportunity to concentrate their studies in one of two areas: Mental Health and Neuroscience<\/strong> or Nursing Data Science<\/strong>. Carleton University partnered with the Queensway Carleton Hospital on the conceptualization of this program and the curriculum design to ensure it reflects the current on-the-job challenges facing nurses today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Announcement: Registered Nurse Prescribing for Every Graduate\n <\/h2>\n <\/header>\n \n \n\n

Carleton University\u2019s Bachelor of Science in Nursing is proud to announce that Registered Nurse (RN) Prescribing is now embedded throughout the program. This enhancement means every BScN student will graduate with the competencies to practice RN Prescribing within the RN scope\u2014equipping new nurses to assess, select, and prescribe approved therapies safely and effectively, in line with regulatory standards and best practices. It\u2019s a future-ready step that expands timely access to care while strengthening patient safety and system capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will build prescribing expertise through an integrated curriculum that links advanced health assessment, pharmacology, therapeutics, and documentation with high-fidelity simulation, standardized patients, case-based learning, and objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs). Graduates leave prepared to make evidence-informed prescribing decisions, collaborate across interprofessional teams, and communicate clearly with patients and families\u2014so they can deliver the right care, at the right time, with confidence and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
