{"id":26,"date":"2025-05-09T10:08:41","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T14:08:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/nursing\/?page_id=26"},"modified":"2025-05-09T11:30:44","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T15:30:44","slug":"ontario-learn-and-stay-grant","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/nursing\/ontario-learn-and-stay-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario Learn and Stay Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"w-screen px-6 cu-section cu-section--white ml-offset-center md:px-8 lg:px-14\">\n    <div class=\"space-y-6 cu-max-w-child-5xl  md:space-y-10 cu-prose-first-last\">\n\n            <div class=\"cu-textmedia flex flex-col lg:flex-row mx-auto gap-6 md:gap-10 my-6 md:my-12 first:mt-0 max-w-5xl\">\n        <div class=\"justify-start cu-textmedia-content cu-prose-first-last\" style=\"flex: 0 0 100%;\">\n            <header class=\"font-light prose-xl cu-pageheader md:prose-2xl cu-component-updated cu-prose-first-last\">\n                                    <h1 class=\"cu-prose-first-last font-semibold !mt-2 mb-4 md:mb-6 relative after:absolute after:h-px after:bottom-0 after:bg-cu-red after:left-px text-3xl md:text-4xl lg:text-5xl lg:leading-[3.5rem] pb-5 after:w-10 text-cu-black-700 not-prose\">\n                        Ontario Learn and Stay Grant\n                    <\/h1>\n                \n                                \n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, the Ontario government unveiled the newly-expanded&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/ontario-learn-and-stay-grant\">Learn and Stay Grant<\/a>&nbsp;that provides full, upfront funding for tuition, books and other costs for students who enroll in eligible nursing programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-is-the-ontario-learn-and-stay-grant\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ontario Learn and Stay Grant provides funding for students studying in priority postsecondary<br>programs in underserved and growing communities in Northern, Southwestern and Eastern Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This grant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>requires you to work in the region where you studied<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>responds to labour market needs, including in health care<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>helps underserved and growing communities get the workers they need for in-demand<br>professions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-will-the-grant-cover\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will the grant cover?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The grant will cover the cost of:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>tuition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>compulsory fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>books<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>other direct educational costs (for example: supplies or equipment)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"who-is-eligible\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is eligible?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible for this grant, you must:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>successfully apply to and enroll in the first or second year of an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/ontario-learn-and-stay-grant#section-6\">eligible program<\/a>&nbsp;in a priority community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be an Ontario resident&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>commit to working in the same region where you studied after you graduate\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>as part of the agreement, you must work in the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/ontario-learn-and-stay-grant#section-5\">same service region<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;where you studied&nbsp;<strong>for at least 180&nbsp;days (6&nbsp;months) for every full year of study funded by the grant<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not be receiving funding from any of the following government programs:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/begin.werpn.com\/\">The BEGIN Initiative<\/a>: Bridging Educational Grant in Nursing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/better-jobs-ontario\">Better Jobs Ontario<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/skills-development-fund\">Skills Development Fund<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"financial-assistance-information-for-students-with-disabilities\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Financial assistance information for students with disabilities\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students with disabilities may be eligible for additional funding to help pay for their<br>postsecondary education.
