TA positions are roughly 8 to 10 hours per week over the semester. Duties vary with the course you are assigned, but typically involve grading assignments and tests, conducting tutorials, proctoring exams, entering grades, attending meetings and holding office hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To be eligible applicants must:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be registered full-time in the term they wish to be a TA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have experience as a TA in the School of Nursing or experience in a field relating to the course material<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a 10.0 CGPA or higher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undergraduate students must have 2nd year standing or above (preference given to higher year standing)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Summer 2026 available courses:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NURS 2000<\/strong> : Community Health<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge of public health, knowledge of epidemiology, knowledge of regulated and non-regulated healthcare professionals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NURS 2011<\/strong> : Health Equity and Social Justice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge of health ethics and law, knowledge of stigma, bias, LGBTQ2S+ health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NURS 2013<\/strong> : Interpersonal Communication<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge of diverse communication strategies in healthcare settings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NURS 2016<\/strong> : Introduction to Health IT<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge of health programming and coding, electronic record data bases (EHRs), interfacing and clinical \/ digital technologies&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to apply:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Graduate Students: <\/strong>Please email nursing@cunet.carleton.ca by <strong>April 15<sup>th<\/sup> <\/strong>to express your interest in one, or more of the available courses that you are eligible to TA (i.e., those with related courses with a grade of A- or higher) in order of most preferred to least preferred. Please include a copy of your resume that clearly outlines how your experience relates to the course you are applying to TA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Undergraduate Students:<\/strong> Please complete an Outside Priority TA Application by&nbsp;<strong>April 15<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>&nbsp;in the TA Management System on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/\"><strong>Carleton Central.<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;List all courses you are eligible to TA (i.e., those with related courses with a grade of A- or higher) in order of most preferred to least preferred. The more courses you list, the better the chances of getting a position, but we do not guarantee that you will be assigned to TA your most preferred courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accepting a TA position is an official job offer and should be treated accordingly. If you accept a position, you are expected to be available and perform duties as assigned. Poor performance (e.g., missing tutorials, late marking) will affect your future TA position prospects.
