Learners will review the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and begin to understand their role in transforming health systems and addressing Indigenous specific racism through theory and practice.

Required qualifications<\/strong>
The successful candidate will be expected to design and teach courses on Indigenous Health and Indigenous Health topics and supervise\/mentor students in the entry to practice competencies as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Develop and deliver course content for as assigned, focusing on health and nursing from an Indigenous context.\u00a0

Incorporate Indigenous perspectives, histories, and values into teaching materials.\u00a0\u00a0

Mentor and support students to be aware of reconciliation, trauma informed care, and other topics in their positions of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous identity as future care providers.\u00a0\u00a0

Act as a departmental advisor for incorporation of Indigenous health topics through-out the program in conjunction with the Indigenous Registered Nurse Faculty member and other Indigenous Carleton supports.\u00a0

Must have proof of Indigenous identity (First Nations, M\u00e9tis, or Inuit), as per Carleton\u2019s Indigenous Hiring policy<\/a>, with a demonstrated connection to Indigenous communities\u00a0

Professional experience as a Nurse (Registered Nurse preferred. Registered Practical Nurse\/Licensed Practical Nurse, Midwife or other<\/em> will be considered).\u00a0\u00a0

Preference given to applicants with experience with online teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Brightspace).\u00a0\u00a0

Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous health and Nursing\u00a0

Preference given to applicants with demonstrated experience in teaching at a university
or similar post-secondary institution, mentoring students, and\/or facilitating workshops.\u00a0\u00a0
Ability to travel and deliver in-person sessions when required\u00a0\u00a0
