Carleton offers a variety of specialized counsellors<\/a>: Indigenous, sexual assault and trauma, racialized, 2SLGBQ+, international and graduate. Students who wish to connect with a specific counsellor can select their practitioner of choice when they book an appointment, or they can book the next available appointment and connect with a specialized counsellor at a later appointment.<\/p>\n Carleton offers several specialized group programming options including graduate support, queer support, eating disorders, neurodiversity and more. Please visit the Counselling Services website<\/a> to learn more about which offerings are currently available.<\/p>\n For all counselling services, including the specialized services described below, please visit the Counselling Services website to book an appointment<\/a>.<\/p>\n Graduate<\/strong>: Carleton offers a counsellor focused on helping graduate students as well as group programming for graduate students.<\/p>\n Indigenous<\/strong>: the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement (CISCE) is proud to offer culturally-centered individual counselling<\/a> to students who self-identify as First Nation, Metis or Inuk. Through this service, Indigenous students can access confidential, individual sessions for support with personal, mental health or academic challenges. Indigenous students can contact CISCE for an appointment<\/a>.<\/p>\n International: numerous counsellors have competency in supporting international students.<\/strong><\/p>\n Racialized students<\/strong>: BIPOC students can connect with the counsellors who specialize in supporting racialized students for counselling services with a shared understanding of lived experience\/identity.<\/p>\n Residence<\/strong>: students living in residence have access to dedicated counselling<\/a> available Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residence students can call 613-520-2600 ext. 8061 to book a session.<\/p>\n Sexual assault and trauma<\/strong>: the sexual assault\/trauma counsellor specializes in working with the impacts of sexual violence, intimate partner violence and other forms of trauma.<\/p>\n The Carleton University Sexual Assault Support Centre<\/a> provides sexual violence support services. Survivors can also connect with Carleton University Sexual Assault Support Centre<\/a> team for survivor support and resources.<\/p>\n 2SLGBTQ+<\/strong>: the 2SLGBTQ+ counsellor at Carleton specializes in working with trans and 2SLGBTQ+ people navigating senses of self and interpersonal dynamics.<\/p>\n Eating disorders: <\/strong>the eating disorders counsellor provides ongoing counselling for students experiencing issues related to disordered eating.<\/p>\n If you or someone you know is in crisis, help is available. In case of an emergency on campus, please call 613-520-4444 or dial 4444 from any on-campus phone. For off campus emergencies, call 911.<\/p>\n The Distress Centre of Ottawa<\/a> provides mental health support for distress and crisis.
