My research interests are in the area of children’s social and emotional development. Specifically, my research focuses on children’s emotion regulation – how children learn to control their emotions – and the role that this plays in their ability to interact successfully with peers. Previous research projects involve examining the links between emotion regulation shyness in preschool children. Currently, I am investigating whether spending time alone may be viewed as an adaptive emotion regulation strategy throughout development.

M.A. Thesis Title: Examining Complex Links between Shyness, Fear Regulation, and Parental Emotional Socialization in the Prediction of Young Children’s Socio-emotional Functioning
