Financial aid is available for students who have had their income impacted by Covid-19.

Before applying for any assistance please make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria. Each fund and/or benefit has unique eligibility criteria, and should be reviewed individually to ensure that all applications can be processed expediently and in-full.

The Student Emergency Fund

The Student Emergency Fund (SEF) is designed to provide emergency financial assistance to Carleton University students experiencing short term financial hardship related to critical needs such as groceries, medications and utilities. In March 2020 Carleton University extended the capacity of the SEF to address increased need due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Please keep in mind that while Carleton University will continue to support students in need though the SEF, it is important to recognize the financial and operational limitations of the program.

Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB)

The Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) provides financial support to post-secondary students, and recent post-secondary and high school graduates who are unable to find work due to COVID-19.

This benefit is for students who do not qualify for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or Employment Insurance (EI).
