Start building your support network and feel connected! Please join us at the PMC Fall Orientation on Friday, September 1 and take the first step to begin your university transition!

At the PMC Fall Orientation you will:

  • Meet fellow first-year students, friendly PMC staff, and inspiring student ambassadors
  • Attend an information session to learn about how to access PMC services
  • Hear success stories from upper-year students and learn about challenges you may face in university
  • Participate on a tour of PMC and affiliated services for students with disabilities

Need to Know – Information Session for NEW Students
What is the process for arranging academic accommodations at Carleton?  When do I talk to my professors about my accommodation needs?  What services are available to support my transition and learning?  How can I feel connected with the campus community and participate in volunteer opportunities while attending Carleton? At this 30-minute Need to Know Information Session presented by PMC staff, you will receive answers to all these questions and much more!

Student Panel
Returning students will be sharing their personal story about their first year at Carleton. Learn about their successes and the challenges they faced during their transition to university. They will give you tips on how to get involved and feel connected with peers, what strategies and student services can help you in your first year and how to communicate and advocate for your disability-related needs.

PMC Staff will guide you on a tour of the PMC Learning Lab, the McIntyre Exam Centre, the New Sun Joy Maclaren Adaptive Technology Centre and Transcription Services. Meet the coordinators of each centre and learn about how to access their services. Ask questions and get a ballot to win prizes.

Lunch and Refreshments:
Light refreshments and pizza lunch will be provided at noon. This is an opportunity to mingle with staff, fellow students and PMC student ambassadors. There will be prizes and giveaways during lunch.
