The tutor acts as a coach and mentor by integrating academic support with the development of effective learning strategies and study habits. The main goal is to provide students with in-depth support while at the same time imparting skills to maximize the likelihood of future success and independence of the student. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"position-details\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Position Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The demand for tutors in specific content areas will depend on students\u2019 needs from term to term.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is no minimum or maximum number of courses that tutors must be available to tutor or hours they must be available each week during any given term. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scheduling is determined between student and tutor, independently of the PMC. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tutors are paid an hourly rate determined on a sliding scale, based on individual academic level and relevant experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">The PMC is available to students and tutors at any point during the term while promoting autonomy regarding scheduling, meeting structure, and payment. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"position-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Position Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to join the PMC tutor roster candidates must&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>have received a final grade of A- or above in any course they wish to tutor (equivalencies may be considered for graduate students who completed their undergraduate degree at an institution other than Carleton).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be in good academic standing, overall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be patient, empathetic and able to maintain confidentiality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Have a comprehensive understanding and mastery of course content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be creative and flexible when coming up with ways to work with others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be able to create and maintain professional boundaries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"apply-to-join-the-pmc-tutor-roster\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apply to Join the PMC Tutor Roster<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/7tnq9d1gbvw.typeform.com\/to\/OGKNvZNW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">If you are interested in joining the PMC Tutor Roster, please complete and submit the online application form to get started!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions prior to applying, please email <a href=\"mailto:pmc_tutoring@carleton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pmc_tutoring@carleton.ca<\/a> and a member of our team will be happy to hear from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">The Paul Menton Centre welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
