\n Learning Assistants\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Learning Assistants work one-on-one with registered PMC students with mobility limitations to support classroom learning. As a Learning Assistant you will assist with tasks such as retrieving a laptop, or other class materials, from the student\u2019s school bag and replacing them at the end of class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Position Details and Expectations
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Learning Assistants must<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Check-in with supervisors\n
      \n
    • Annually for availability<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Regularly for scheduling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Complete the AODA and PMC training (provided)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Arrive in time and prepared for scheduled shifts<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Have and maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to be patient, empathetic and maintain confidentiality<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Listen and be attentive to the needs of the client<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Learning Assistants should<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • Ask questions when necessary<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Be confident working with individuals with mobility impairments<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Possess the ability to remain calm and think critically in a range of situations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Learning Assistants should know that<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        • Rate of pay for Learning Assistants is $15\/hour<\/strong> (as indicated by the Ministry of Education)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Time Commitment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          • Medium to High \u2013 typically range from 2 to 12 hours per week (1 or 2 Semesters \u2013depending on student course load and testing requirements)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Time of day determine by class schedule and availability of the student accessing service(s)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
