Take an opportunity to come to campus ahead of semester-start to orient yourself if needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the semester begins, select the accommodations that apply to each course through your Ventus portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"request-alternative-formats\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Request Alternative Formats<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If have already been referred to <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Alternate Formats at Library Accessibility Services<\/strong>, review readings and course requirements and <a href=\"https:\/\/library.carleton.ca\/services\/library-accessibility-services\/alternate-formats\">request your alternate formats<\/a> before or early in the term.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you think you could benefit from Alternate formats for your course readings, please contact your PMC Coordinator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"manage-your-u-pass\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manage your U-Pass<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">If you received your Campus Card<\/strong><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">\/<\/strong><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">U-Pass after July 1, 2024<\/strong> and you are enrolled in at least 1.5 each term term, U-Pass will be activated automatically the first time you use it on transit in the fall pass period which begins\u00a0<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">September 1, 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">If you received your Campus Card\/U-Pas<\/strong><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">s<\/strong><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\"> prior to July 1, 2024<\/strong>, and have not yet added the transit application, your first step to accessing the transit system will be to download the new transit application to your Campus Card. This can be done in-person at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.carleton.ca\/campuscard\/visit-the-campus-card-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Campus Card Office<\/a>\u00a0in room 407 Nideyin\u00e0n during office hours Monday \u2013 Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are a new student and do not have your Campus Card or U-Pass yet, please <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/campuscard\/get-your-card\/\">follow the steps outlined on the Campus Card webpage to request your combined Campus Card and U-Pass<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For more information about managing your U-Pass, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/upass\/get-your-u-pass-card\/\">visit the Manage your U-Pass webpage<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"manage-your-cusa-health-dental-plan\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manage your CUSA Health &amp; Dental Plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Undergraduate students taking 2.0 credits per term (or more) are automatically enrolled in the CUSA Health &amp; Dental Plans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you\u2019re already covered by an equivalent health and\/or dental plan (such as a parent or spouse\u2019s employee benefit plan), you can opt out during the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentcare.ca\/rte\/en\/IHaveAPlan_CarletonUniversityUndergraduateStudentsCUSA_ChangeofCoverage_ChangeofCoveragePeriod\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Change-of-Coverage Period<\/a> <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">(September 5 &#8211; October 3, 2025)<\/strong> and receive a\u00a0credit to your student account\u00a0for the amount of the Plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Undergraduate students enrolled in less than 2.0 credits per term are NOT automatically enrolled in the CUSA Health &amp; Dental Plan. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The deadline to <a href=\"https:\/\/studentcare.ca\/rte\/en\/IHaveAPlan_CarletonUniversityUndergraduateStudentsCUSA_ChangeofCoverage_SelfEnrolment\">self-enroll in CUSA Health &amp; Dental Plan<\/a> is between <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">September 5 &#8211; October 3, 2025<\/strong>\u00a0(for full-year coverage). \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"check-the-bookstore-for-your-textbooks\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check the Bookstore for Your Textbooks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The bookstore is now called <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.bookware3000.ca\/\">The Campus Store<\/a> and is now under the management of Carleton University. Check out their new renovated space with new merchandise on the first floor of Nideyinan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check their website to see if your professors have submitted orders for your course textbooks. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"plan-for-mental-health-and-wellness-support\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plan for Mental Health and Wellness Support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fall transitions can be stressful. Look into:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Counselling services\u00a0or peer support groups. Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/wellness.carleton.ca\/navigator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wellness navigator<\/a> to help you find wellness services on campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quiet spaces\u00a0or sensory-friendly zones on campus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crisis support\u00a0or mental health hotlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Carleton has a wide range of wellness services and programming. Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/wellness.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mental health and well-being website<\/a> to find out more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"connect-with-the-paul-menton-centre-early\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Connect with the Paul Menton Centre Early <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a returning student and will need to make changes\/updates to your template accommodations, reach out to your PMC Coordinator ahead of semester-start, if possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quick questions and queries can often be addressed by email.
