{"id":7862,"date":"2025-08-12T15:30:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T19:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/pmc\/?p=7862"},"modified":"2025-08-12T16:08:05","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T20:08:05","slug":"pmc-administered-awards-and-scholarships-for-new-and-incoming-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/pmc\/2025\/pmc-administered-awards-and-scholarships-for-new-and-incoming-students\/","title":{"rendered":"PMC-Administered Awards and Scholarships for New and Returning Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"w-screen px-6 cu-section cu-section--white ml-offset-center md:px-8 lg:px-14\">\n    <div class=\"space-y-6 cu-max-w-child-5xl  md:space-y-10 cu-prose-first-last\">\n\n            <div class=\"cu-textmedia flex flex-col lg:flex-row mx-auto gap-6 md:gap-10 my-6 md:my-12 first:mt-0 max-w-5xl\">\n        <div class=\"justify-start cu-textmedia-content cu-prose-first-last\" style=\"flex: 0 0 100%;\">\n            <header class=\"font-light prose-xl cu-pageheader md:prose-2xl cu-component-updated cu-prose-first-last\">\n                                    <h1 class=\"cu-prose-first-last font-semibold !mt-2 mb-4 md:mb-6 relative after:absolute after:h-px after:bottom-0 after:bg-cu-red after:left-px text-3xl md:text-4xl lg:text-5xl lg:leading-[3.5rem] pb-5 after:w-10 text-cu-black-700 not-prose\">\n                        PMC-Administered Awards and Scholarships for New and Returning Students\n                    <\/h1>\n                \n                                \n                                    \n\n<p>There are a number of PMC-administered awards and scholarships open for new and returning students registered with the PMC, including two new awards!<\/p>\n\n\n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">All awards and scholarships in this post have August 31 application deadlines; no incomplete or late applications will be considered.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">NOTE that each award and scholarship is subject to unique eligibility and application instructions. <\/strong>Be sure to read the instructions for any award you plan to apply for carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/pmc\/current-students\/financial-aid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Complete information and application instructions for all PMC-administered awards, scholarships and bursaries is available on the PMC&#8217;s Financial Aid webpage.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">IODE Lord Dundonald Giselle Lazure Memorial Award<\/strong> is open for the 2025-2026 award cycle and awarded to an outstanding student with a permanent disability, who is in demonstrated financial need and is registered with the PMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">The Making a Difference Award<\/strong> is awarded to outstanding students with a documented permanent physical disability entering a program of study, full-time, within the Faculty of Engineering, Faulty of Science, Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs or the Bachelor of Commerce program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Successful applicants demonstrate academic excellence, community service, leadership and commitment to making a difference in their larger communities, and are in demonstrable financial need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">The Susan Scott Parker Scholarship<\/strong> is awarded to outstanding undergrad students who are registered with the PMC, have a permanent disability, and are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preference is given to female applicants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">The Thomas Sorensen Memorial Scholarship<\/strong> was established by the Sorensen family to honour the legacy of their son, Thomas Sorensen, who was a student at Carleton from 2014-2014. This scholarship provides financial support to\u00a0undergraduate students with a permanent disability who is passionate about advocating for disabilities and volunteers or fundraises for organizations that help persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">The Walker Wood Award<\/strong> recognizes outstanding undergrad students with a demonstrated permanent disability who are enrolled in any program of study at Carleton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>May be renewed for up-to three (3) consecutive years of full-time enrolment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"new-additions\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Additions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">The Kinaxis Scholarship for Students in Computer Science<\/strong> for outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in a Bachelor of Computer Science program, registered with the PMC, demonstrate academic excellence, and are registered with the Paul Menton Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kinaxis Scholarship for Students in Systems and Computer Engineering has been endowed for outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering, registered with the PMC, demonstrate academic excellence, and are registered with the Paul Menton Centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All awards and scholarships in this post have August 31 application deadlines; no incomplete or late applications will be considered.
