Lori Thorlakson, University of Alberta
Lori Thorlakson is Associate Professor and Director of the European Union Centre of Excellence in the Department of Political Science at the University of Alberta, where she has also held a Jean Monnet Chair. Her research focuses on party competition and policy making in multi-level systems, including federations and the European Union, representation in the European Parliament, and democratic development in Central and East Europe. Professor Thorlakson holds a PhD from the London School of Economics. Before coming to the University of Alberta in 2008 she was a lecturer at the University of Nottingham and a Jean Monnet fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. Her work has appeared in several journals, including the European Journal of Political Research, Journal of European Public Policy, West European Politics, Publius and Party Politics.
