TA workshop: Diversity and Inclusion in the Political Science Classroom
January 24, 2020 at 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM
Location: | A602 Loeb Building |
Cost: | Free |
Although Canada more broadly prides itself for its multiculturalism, academic spaces have a history of exclusivity and privilege. In this session, TAs will learn how to foster equity, diversity, and inclusion – all of which are part of Carleton University’s mandate – in classrooms where we discuss potentially-sensitive political issues.
This workshop is organized and facilitated by departmental TA mentor Amanda Roberts. It will count as one and a half out of the five hours of paid TA training that you can complete each year. TAs, please register for this workshop through the TA Management system in Carleton Central (http://central.carleton.ca/) to ensure your hours and credits are counted.
This workshop is designed for both new and continuing TAs in political science and social science (whether or not this is your home department). Although this is a paid training session for TAs, all are welcome to attend including faculty, staff, and CIs.
Light refreshments will be served.
