Unpacking Gender’s Role in Political Representation in Canada

Brenda O’Neill, University of Calgary
Brenda O’Neill is a Professor and Department Head at the University of Calgary. Dr. O’Neill is an expert in civic engagement, political participation, and representation. Her current research interests include women’s feminist and religious beliefs and their role in shaping public opinion, gender and political party leadership in Canada, and the changing nature of political and civic engagement. She is principal investigator of a 2009 SSHRC grant entitled “The Political Behaviour and Attitudes of Women in Quebec.” The project extends the 2007 Women’s Political Participation Survey, undertaken with women in English-speaking Canada, to women in Quebec.
