Students can choose from a variety of courses on public administration and policy, media, and public opinion, as well as on substantive policy areas, such the environment, migration, and social policy. This concentration also includes courses on research techniques and methods and equips students with the skills to effectively participate in analytic jobs that are at the heart of much organized public activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their second year of the program, students in this concentration earn 0.5 credit in the following course:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PSCI 2401 [0.5 credit]: Public Affairs Analysis<br>\nIntroduction to central concepts and processes involved in public affairs. Exploration of public issues, policy approaches and decision-making structures using theoretical, empirical and applied approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their third and fourth years of the program, students take an additional 3.0 credits in Public Affairs and Policy Analysis, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PSCI 3401 \u2013 Canadian Public Administration<br>\nPSCI 3402 \u2013 Canadian Public Policy<br>\nPSCI 3405 \u2013 Comparative Public Policy Analysis<br>\nPSCI 3406 \u2013 Public Affairs and Media Strategies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PSCI 4008 \u2013 National Security and Intelligence in the Modern State<br>\nPSCI 4400 \u2013 Socio-Technical Change and Public Policy Design<br>\nPSCI 4403 \u2013 Reproductive Rights Policy in North America<br>\nPSCI 4404 \u2013 The Design and Evolution of Public Institutions<br>\nPSCI 4407 \u2013 Public Policy: Content and Creation<br>\nPSCI 4408 \u2013 Public Affairs Management and Analysis<br>\nPSCI 4808 \u2013 Global Environmental Politics<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the full list of course options in Public Affairs and Policy Analysis, and the specific degree requirements for your program, consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/politicalscience\/#Concentration_in_Public_Affairs_and_Policy_Analysis\">Undergraduate Calendar<\/a>.
