We will post application information for the 2025-2026 year Winter 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the summer months, the Scholarship and Awards Office at Carleton University will select recipients for the Political Science Departmental Awards. A list of the available awards and their values is below. Undergraduate students in Political Science or Global Politics who meet the eligibility requirements of the award are invited to apply for the 2024-25 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in nominating someone, or self-nominating, please follow the links below and email the completed forms to <a href=\"mailto:PSCI.Advising@carleton.ca\">PSCI.Advising@carleton.ca<\/a> by June 1st, 2025 11:59pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/polisci\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/212\/David-J-Bellamy-Memorial-Scholarship-in-Political-Science-Application-2025.pdf\">David J Bellamy Memorial Scholarship in Political Science<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Value $3,000. Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Political Science to an outstanding student proceeding from Third to Fourth year in the Political Science program. Recipient will have demonstrated financial need, must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada (landed immigrant or protected person), and must meet OSAP\u2019s Ontario residency requirements. Endowed in 2005 by family, friends and colleagues of David J Bellamy, former faculty member of the Department of Political Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/polisci\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/212\/Garret-Elsey-Memorial-Award-in-Political-Science-Application-2025.pdf\">Garret Elsey Memorial Award in Political Science<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Value $2,600. Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Political Science to an undergraduate student enrolled in the Department of Political Science or the Department of History in their graduating year at Carleton University who, in addition to maintaining the academic levels of the degree program, have been active participants in extracurricular activities at the University. Endowed in 2013 in memory of Garrett Elsey BAHons\/2012 by his family and many friends to celebrate his love of learning, generosity, adventurous spirit, active involvement in Carleton campus life and being a proud Canadian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/polisci\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/212\/Sumita-Dixit-Scholarship-for-Diverse-Voices-Application-2025.pdf\">Sumita Dixit Scholarship for Diverse Voices<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Value $1,000. Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Political Science to an outstanding undergraduate student who identifies as a woman and is Indigenous, Black or a member of another racialized group. Eligible recipients will be entering or continuing in a Bachelors degree in Political Science with a scholarly specialization in International Relations and\/or Comparative Politics. Application is required. Established in 2024 by the Dixit family, in memory of Sumita Dixit BJ\/1998, a Canadian diplomat who advocated for the inclusion of women\u2019s voices in humanitarian and diplomatic arenas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/polisci\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/212\/The-Honorable-Walter-Baker-Memorial-Scholarship-in-Political-Science-Application-2025.pdf\">The Honorable Walter Baker Memorial Scholarship in Political Science<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Value: 7 awards of $1400 each. Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Political Science to one or more students finishing the Third year of an Honours program. The selection will be made on the basis of high academic standing, with consideration given to demonstrated political leadership or involvement in politics. This scholarship is given in memory of The Honorable Walter Baker, PC, QC, MP, BA, a distinguished graduate of Carleton University. Endowed in 1984 by the friends of the Honorable Walter Baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/polisci\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/212\/Vered-Foundation-Scholarship-in-Political-Science-Application-2025.pdf\">Vered Foundation Scholarship in Political Science<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Value $5,000. Two scholarships are awarded annually one to an Engineering student in Civil Engineering; the second scholarship on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Political Science if merited, to a student who is proceeding from one year of course to another in a degree program in Political Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*Hume Wrong Scholarship in Political Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Value $2,300. Awarded annually to the leading student in their Third year of History or Political Science who is <strong>proceeding to his or her final Honours year<\/strong>. Established and endowed in 1962 by Mrs. Hume Wrong in memory of her late husband, Humphrey Hume Wrong, who was a professor of history and career diplomat, including serving in the League of Nations, as Canada\u2019s ambassador to the United States from 1946 to 1953, and one of the key architects of the North Atlantic Treaty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*R.A. MacKay Award in Political Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Value $1,250. Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Political Science to an outstanding undergraduate student in good standing in accordance with terms that the Department may from time to time establish. Donor: The late Dr. R.A. MacKay.
