DESCRIPTION:Université du Québec en Outaouais is hosting the Past, Present, and Future of Green Jobs: Policies, Strategies, and Alternatives conference, an international, bilingual, and hybrid event bringing together leading researchers and practitioners to explore pressing issues in the green jobs space. The speakers include: Nora Räthzel, Dimitris Stevis, Thea Riofrancos, and Matt Huber.



Dates: December 6th and 7th, 2024
Venue: Université du Québec en Outaouais, Gatineau
Format: Hybrid



This dynamic conference will cover key themes, including:




The impact of economic and environmental policies on green jobs



The evolution of working conditions in specific “green” sectors



Transition plans for fossil fuel and hard-to-abate industries



Different interpretations of just transitions



“Green” extractivism and its challenges in the Global South



Prevailing business models in “green” sectors



Union strategies for ecological transitions



Reimagining work through an environmental lens

*Note that the cost for in-person, non-presenting attendees is sliding scale from $0-$25 and for hybrid attendance the cost is free.
