Below is a listing of Academic and Financial dates and deadlines for the 2017-18 academic year. The financial related dates and deadlines have been linked to the Student Accounts dates and deadlines pages.<\/strong>

May 26<\/strong>
\nThe Student Registration Assistance<\/a> service becomes available to all students.
\nThe registration timetable planning tool is available for the 2017-2018 academic year.<\/p>\n

June 6<\/strong>
\nCarleton Central<\/a> opens for registration for new first year undergraduate students and students admitted from CEGEP (see Timeticket schedule<\/a> for your registration start time).<\/p>\n

June 22<\/strong>
\nCarleton Central<\/a> opens at 8:30 a.m. for registration for returning students (see Timeticket schedule<\/a>).<\/p>\n

July 1<\/strong>
\nApplication deadline to study at another institution on a letter of permission<\/a> for the fall term.<\/p>\n

July 3<\/strong>
\nStatutory holiday. University closed.<\/p>\n

August 4<\/strong>
\nCarleton Central<\/a> opens at 8:30 a.m. for registration for Special Students (see Timeticket schedule<\/a>).<\/p>\n

August 7<\/strong>
\nCivic holiday, University closed.<\/p>\n

August 25<\/strong>
\nFall payment deadline. Click here<\/a> for important payment information. Late charges<\/a> may be applied to the student account any time after this date.<\/p>\n

September 1<\/strong>
\nLast day for receipt of applications from potential fall (November) graduates.<\/p>\n

September 2-3<\/strong>
\nResidence move in weekend.<\/p>\n

September 4<\/strong>
\nStatutory holiday. University closed.<\/p>\n

September 5<\/strong>
\nAcademic orientation (undergraduate and graduate).
\nOrientation for Teaching Assistants.
\nAll students are expected to be on campus. Class and laboratory preparations, departmental introductions for students and other academic preparation activities will be held.<\/p>\n

September 6<\/strong>
\nFall term begins.
\nFall and fall\/winter classes begin.<\/p>\n

September 15-17<\/strong>
\nFull and late summer deferred final examinations held.<\/p>\n

September 19 <\/strong>
\nLast day of registration for fall term and fall\/winter courses.
\nLast day to change courses or sections (including auditing) for fall\/winter and fall term courses.
\nGraduate students who have not electronically submitted their final thesis copy to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs will not be eligible to graduate in Fall 2017 and must register for the fall 2017 term.<\/p>\n

September 30 <\/strong>
\nLast day to withdraw from fall term and fall\/winter courses with a full fee adjustment<\/a> (financial withdrawal). Withdrawals after this date will create no financial change to Fall term fees.<\/p>\n

October 6<\/strong>
\nDecember examination schedule (fall term final and fall\/winter mid-terms) available online.<\/p>\n

October 9<\/strong>
\nStatutory holiday. University closed.<\/p>\n

October 15<\/strong>
\nLast day for receipt of applications for admission to an undergraduate degree program for the winter term from applicants whose documents originate from outside Canada or the United States.<\/p>\n

October 23-27<\/strong>
\nFall break. Classes are suspended.<\/p>\n

November 1<\/strong>
\nApplication deadline to study at another institution on a letter of permission<\/a> for the winter term.<\/p>\n

November 10<\/strong>
\nLast day to request formal exam accommodations for December examinations to the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities. Late requests will be considered on case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n

November 15<\/strong>
\nLast day for receipt of applications for admission to an undergraduate degree program for the winter term.<\/p>\n

November 24<\/strong>
\nLast day for summative or final examinations in fall term courses before the official examination period (see Examination Regulations<\/a> in the Academic Regulations of the University section of the Undergraduate Calendar).<\/p>\n

November 25<\/strong>
\nWinter Payment Deadline. Click here <\/a>for important payment information. Late charges<\/a> may be applied to the student account any time after this date.<\/p>\n

December 1<\/strong>
\nLast day for receipt of applications from potential winter (February) graduates.
\nLast day for graduate students to submit their supervisor-approved thesis in examinable form to the department.<\/p>\n

December 8<\/strong>
\nFall term ends.
\nLast day of fall-term classes.
\nClasses follow a Monday schedule.
\nLast day for academic withdrawal from fall term courses.
\nLast day for handing in term work and the last day that can be specified by a course instructor as a due date for term work for fall term courses.
\nLast day for receipt of applications for undergraduate degree program transfers for winter term.
\nLast day to pay any remaining fall tuition fees<\/a> to avoid a hold on access to marks through Carleton Central and the release of transcripts and other official documents.<\/p>\n

December 9<\/strong>
\nNo classes or examinations take place.<\/p>\n

December 10 \u2013 22 <\/strong>
\nFinal examinations in fall term courses and mid-term examinations in fall\/winter courses may be held. Examinations are normally held all seven days of the week.<\/p>\n

December 22<\/strong>
\nAll take home examinations are due.<\/p>\n

December 25-January 1, 2018<\/strong>
\nUniversity closed<\/p>\n

January 2<\/strong>
\nUniversity reopens at 8:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

January 8<\/strong>
\nWinter term classes begin.<\/p>\n

January 19<\/strong>
\nLast day for registration for winter term courses.
\nLast day to change courses or sections (including auditing) for winter term courses.
\nGraduate students who have not electronically submitted their final thesis copy to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs will not be eligible to graduate in Winter 2018 and must register for the Winter 2018 term.<\/p>\n

January 19-21, 26-28<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>Fall-term deferred examinations will be held.<\/p>\n

January 31 <\/strong>

\nLast day for receipt of applications from potential spring (June) graduates.
\nLast day for receipt of applications for admission to an undergraduate program for the summer term.<\/p>\n

March 9<\/strong>
