GPA Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The following GPA calculation information can be used to calculate your eligibility for awards\/bursaries as well as your GPA for program standing. Graduate students must typically maintain a minimum of a B- average in order to maintain their program status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Letter Grades<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Carleton University employs the twelve-point system of letter grades to represent standing in graduate lecture courses, directed studies, seminars, tutorials, and some research essays. The letter grades used and the grade point equivalents are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calculate your GPA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • STEP 1:\u00a0\u00a0List all of the courses you\u2019ve attempted, the corresponding credit values (0.5 credit or 1.0 credit), and your final grades<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • STEP 2:\u00a0\u00a0Record the grade points earned for each course and add them up. Remember<\/b> 0.5 credit courses are worth half of the point value (i.e. B+ are 9.00 points for a 1.0 credit, but 4.50 points for 0.5 credit course).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • STEP 3:\u00a0\u00a0Add up the number of credits that you\u2019ve taken<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • STEP 4:\u00a0\u00a0Divide the total number of grade points by the total number of credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Note: courses listed as SAT or PASS\u00a0 do not count in your GPA calculation. Courses that are listed as F are worth 0 and are calculated in your GPA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
