We welcome submissions from doctoral students currently working on a dissertation
\nchapter or proposal on any issue related to political economy. This is a great opportunity for students
\nto practice articulating their research to a diverse audience and will provide students with valuable
\nfeedback from faculty and graduate colleagues for consideration moving forward.
\nThe Institute of Political Economy was established in 1989 and was built on a strong tradition of
\ninterdisciplinary studies at Carleton. It joins together Canadian Studies, Geography and
\nEnvironmental Studies, History, Journalism and Communication, Law and Legal Studies, Political
\nScience, the School of Public Policy and Administration, Sociology and Anthropology, the School of
\nSocial Work and the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies. Submissions from these and related
\ndisciplines are welcome.
\nStudents will be asked to provide a short presentation of their work after which a faculty member will
\nact as a discussant and provide some initial insight on the paper. Participating students and faculty
\nwill read all accepted chapters and proposals prior to the workshop in order to facilitate quality
\ndiscussion and feedback.
\nApplicants are asked to provide a 250-word abstract of a dissertation chapter or proposal that they
\nwould like to bring to the workshop by January 15, 2016. Students will be notified of their
\nacceptance one week after the close of submissions. If your abstract is accepted, you will be expected
\nto submit your final draft chapter or proposal to the workshop organizers no later than March 25,
\n2016 to provide participants enough time to read and comment on all papers.
