This is so especially when the brutality of the reality is ever more clear, and when the facts speak for themselves, denying the mediation of the words. And the words, seem to be pushed to the back stage since they either fail to grasp the brutality of the reality and\/or they are silenced by the <i>authorship<\/i> of real politics. This talk takes issue with such times, generally named as times of fascism, trying to understand the state of academic writing and the possibilities to forge alternative academia through persisting in the power of writing as a form of resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"professor-h-simten-cosar\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professor H. Simten Co\u015far:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Formerly of the Faculty of Communication at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, Professor Co\u015far has returned to Carleton to teach two courses this term:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/politicaleconomy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/PECO-5501F-3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Feminism, Peace, and War: Intersectionalities<\/a>&nbsp;for Political Economy, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/politicaleconomy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/SOCI-5805H-F17.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Political Economy of Everyday Academic Life<\/a>&nbsp;for the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Co\u015far co-edited&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.in\/Books-Simten-Cosar\/s?ie=UTF8&amp;page=1&amp;rh=n%3A976389031%2Cp_27%3ASimten%20Cosar\"><em>Universities in the Neoliberal Era: Academic Cultures and Critical Perspectives<\/em><\/a>, a book on the recent transformation in the universities, and&nbsp;<i>Silent Violence: Neoliberalism, Islamist Politics,&nbsp;<\/i>a book&nbsp;that explores contemporary&nbsp;<a title=\"Politics of Turkey\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Politics_of_Turkey\">Turkish politics<\/a>&nbsp;by problematizing the synthetic articulation of Islamist politics with neoliberal capitalism during the&nbsp;<a title=\"Justice and Development Party (Turkey)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Justice_and_Development_Party_(Turkey)\">JDP&#8217;s<\/a>&nbsp;decade-long rule. The contributions analyze the policies of the AKP regime in order to understand the changes in Turkish Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has performed research in the Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies at the&nbsp;<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"University of Massachusetts, Amherst\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/University_of_Massachusetts,_Amherst\">University of Massachusetts, Amherst,&nbsp;<\/a>focusing on neoliberal transformation in universities.
