Barry J. McLoughlin (B.A. (Carleton), M.P.A. (HKS) has been a Fellow in the MPM Program beginning in 2011 and has been an Adjunct Instructor covering strategic, political and media communications in the MPM Program. He is a former television writer, producer and broadcaster, and for the past three decades has earned a reputation as one of Canada\u2019s leading communications consultants and trainers.<\/p>\n
Barry has conducted thousands of seminars and coaching sessions for leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors, and trains Prime Ministers, Premiers and political leaders in almost every province. He has coached thousands of Cabinet Ministers and MPs in political communications, including speech delivery, debate preparation and media interviews.<\/p>\n
Barry is a crisis communications and reputation management consultant with clients across Canada, the United States and abroad. He is regularly asked to comment on issues and crises on such programs as\u00a0 CBC’s Power & Politics,<\/u> CTV\u2019s PowerPlay <\/u>, Global TV\u2019s The West Block, <\/u>among many others. He received his B.A. from Carleton University and a Master of Public Administration from the Kennedy School (HKS), where he specialized in public policy and media analysis. He graduated from Harvard Business School\u2019s Certificate Programs Teaching the Case Study Method I and II<\/u> in 2013-14 and the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television\u2019s Professional Screenwriting Program in 2010.<\/p>\n
He is the author of the IABC Award-winning series of Communicate with Power\u00ae pocket tips books, including Encountering the Media\u00ae and Overcoming Panic and Fear: Risk and Crisis Communications.<\/p>\n
Barry is an Adjunct Professor in the Shannon School of Business at Cape Breton University where he teaches a course on Strategic Communications in the Master of Business Administration and Community Development program.<\/p>\n
