Leonard \u201cLenny\u201d Johnston was selected as an Assistant Chief Patrol Agent (ACPA) \u2013 United States Border Patrol (USBP) for the Miami Sector- Targeting and Intelligence Division in August 2025. Prior to this position, he served as an Assistant Chief Patrol Agent assigned to the USBP Headquarters in Washington, D.C. within the Foreign Operations Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2011, ACPA Johnston was assigned to the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of International Affairs (INA) where he served as a CBP Representative assigned to the Embassy of the United States of America \u2013 Ottawa, Canada. During this assignment, ACPA Johnston coordinated binational efforts on the United States\/Canada – Beyond the Border initiatives focusing on Trade, Travel, and Border Security between the two nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2015, ACPA Johnston transferred to the USBP Headquarters in Washington, DC, serving as an Assistant Chief Patrol Agent in the Intelligence Division before being laterally assigned to the Foreign Operations Division in 2016. In 2017, he returned to the United States Embassy- Ottawa, Canada, where he served as an Assistant Attache embedded with the Canada Border Services Agency \u2013 Intelligence Collection, Analysis and Production Division. In 2022, after completing his foreign assignment, ACPA Johnston returned to USBP Headquarters – Foreign Operation Division as the lead for USBP relations with Canada and nations throughout the Eastern Hemisphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his master\u2019s degree in political management, Mr. Johnston holds a master\u2019s degree in diplomacy and international terrorism from Norwich University (The Military Academy of Vermont). He also earned bachelor\u2019s degrees in criminal justice and political science from Norwich University while a member of the Norwich Corps of Cadets. Mr. Johnston recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate in terrorism and political violence at the University of St. Andrews \u2013 Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Johnston is currently an adjunct instructor at the State University of New York \u2013 Canton where he teaches Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.<\/p>\n\n\n

Participating in the Master of Political Management program enhanced my ability to work with components of the Government of Canada on binational border issues concerning immigration, trade, and border security. The program enriched my appreciation for both Canadian and American systems of government, and solidified my supposition that Canadians and Americans, although not identical, have much more in common than assumed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
