Confronting the high cost and inaccessibility of traditional eyewear, the project aimed to democratize eye care through adjustable, self-administered eyewear solutions.

Inspired by the work of Joshua Silver and his fluid-adjustable lenses, the project began as a cardboard-based concept that evolved through iterative prototyping into a recycled plastic, modular lens system. The final design includes rotationally adjustable lenses with pressure-based prescription tuning, eliminating the need for syringes or professional intervention.

A companion mobile application assists users in adjusting their frames and lenses through a guided UI, while also offering personalized product recommendations via an integrated eyewear marketplace. Features such as frame sizing via live scanning, prescription testing, and a verification badge system ensure usability and accuracy. The outcome is a user-friendly, eco-conscious, and low-cost system that makes vision care more autonomous and inclusive.

Keywords: Accessible Eyewear, Personal Informatics, Self-Administered Health Tech, Tangible UI, Vision Correction, Inclusive Design, Sustainable Product Design

Project Summary This project explores a new frontier in accessible vision correction by combining tangible product innovation with digital support tools.
