As part of the Western University’s new Institutional Data Strategy (www.uwo.ca/datastrategy/), we are seeking 5 Fellows with particular qualifications/skills/experience in data science and development and application of contemporary data science techniques. This includes, but is not limited to, machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, etc.

Appointments to begin August 3, 2020 lasting for 2 years.

Salary: $80,000 per year plus statutory benefits

Responsibilities

The Presidential Data Fellowships are innovative, elite, research-focussed postdoctoral positions, which include the opportunity to participate in curriculum design and delivery. Successful applicants will be outstanding scholars and teachers, who have demonstrated great potential for continued contributions to research and teaching.

Approximately 80% of the fellow’s time will be spent working on primary research with a faculty mentor; the remaining 20% will be dedicated to the design and delivery of innovative data science training.

Qualifications
Education:
  • PhD in data science or a related area

Experience:

  • 5 years experience in the development and application of contemporary data science techniques

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality and creativity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • A strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Possesses a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
  • Results-oriented with an ability to handle many tasks while maintaining a high level of individual and team performance
  • Ability to research and process information with high levels of accuracy
