The board was acting on the unanimous recommendation of the VPSE Re-appointment Advisory Committee, which I chaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suzanne\u2019s numerous realizations include fostering continuous enrolment growth during a time of demographic decline, establishing Carleton\u2019s award winning Student Mental Health Framework, an extensive review of Carleton University\u2019s advising services, the implementation of a broad student communications benchmarking initiative, including innovative social media practices, and, most recently, leading a university-wide initiative on the undergraduate student experience that has led to a number of important recommendations to improve student success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suzanne graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons). She has worked in the field of post-secondary education since the late 1980s in a variety of positions, including at the Ministry of Colleges and Universities and La Cit\u00e9 coll\u00e9giale. She came to Carleton initially as Director, Admission Services, and also served as University Registrar and Associate Vice President (Students and Enrolment) before taking on her current role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The re-appointment process followed a fulsome and transparent process in line with the Board of Governors appointment guidelines. The committee met over the course of the fall and consulted widely with the university community through an online survey.
